Chen Li to Participate in the 2007 Venice Biennale

(May 9, 2007, Taipei) Bank SinoPac and SinoPac Securities, members of the SinoPac Holdings (2890), sponsor uprising talented Taiwanese sculpturer Chen Li's solo exhibition at the world renowned- 2007 Venice Biennale. The exhibition marks the significant moment of Taiwanese artwork gaining international spotlight; it is exceptionally meaningful to SinoPac Holdings as SinoPac has been a long time patron to local artists that enter the international stage.

SinoPac Holdings is devoted in supporting Chinese artists. In the past few years, Bank SinoPac, a subsidiary of SinoPac Holdings, has held "Young Artist Showcase Award." The event has been recognized with its high professional standards and fair judgments. Moreover, the Award has identified many young talents who later won acknowledgements in their music career. In addition, SinoPac's name also appeared as a sponsor at the overseas performance of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre and the exhibition of Photographer Mr. Si-chi Ko. With a history dated back to three centuries, the Venice Biennale is founded in 1895; it is holding its 52nd international art exhibition. The Biennale, also known as the Olympics of the cultural circle, has been a prestigious contemporary art event in the avant-garde, promoting new artistic trends in visual arts, inviting over 70 national participations and hundreds of artists and attracting nearly a hundred audiences including directors from heavy-weight museums around the world, curators, art critics, collectors, and journalists.

Sculpturer Chen Li was born in Yunlin, Taiwan. Li is considered a talented uprising artist, devoted in the field of art for more than ten years, successfully incorporates Chinese Buddhism, Taoism, and Confusions in contemporary sculpturing. Li's artwork is internationally acclaimed as it combines the past, the present, the existent and the unreal. Li's pieces convey childhood humorous and Zen. It took one to two years of handwork to organize Chen Li's "Energy of Emptiness" solos exhibition in Venice. The exhibition is made possible by various sponsorships from corporates and foundations. The opening of the exhibition exemplifies the win-win collaboration between corporates and artists, helping Taiwanese artist to enter the global artistic landscape.
